PP RAY’S RAMBLINGS: Two police officers stopped an older lady for speeding. To every question asked by the officers she asked her hubby “what did he say?” He repeated their questions to her and she responded. And the punchline was great – good joke PP Ray.
HAPPY DOLLARS AND OTHER NONSENSE: TT Bob “Hatchet Man” Acker
Rob $20 – 1. The “Run East County Foundation” gives to St Madeline Sophie’s and others and will hold their event June 14th with the theme of “Dads, Grads and Heros”. 2. This was a PSA with all the hoopla about the coronavirus Lion Rob feels we should place a large bottle of hand sanitizer at the entry door for everyone to use since we have some susceptible members.
Tom H $3 – attended the Las Vegas Mt West Basketball Tournament & returned ‘alive’.
Tom N $20 (paid by Prez Chris) for doing exactly what Tom H did.
Paul T $5 – for his Mom’s 99th Birthday – that’s a BIG CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Phil $5 – attended the Boys and Girls Clubs of East County Children’s Ball last weekend at the Omni. He was pleased they paid tribute to our very own PP Jerry Hollingsworth for his invaluable contributions to the clubs and his work with El Cajon Valley Lions. Phil also mentioned that Tom H won a $2,000 jewelry store gift certificate in a drawing!
PROGRAM
3
PP Phil Smith on how he became a Lion in 1993. Apparently he met Lion Ron Black selling White Canes outside the Von’s on Chase. Ron was also Phil’s barber. Ron told Phil he needed to join a great group of influential people and invited him to a club meeting. Once he joined he was able to promote his employer Waste Management. In fact Phil was very impressed when about 25 members showed up at his house one morning to help Phil’s ex move out to other living quarters. It was then he realized he had friends for life.
Phil was club president in 1999-2000 and just his luck the International Convention was held in San Diego (most are in Europe or Asia and even a few ‘down under’).
Winner of Attendance Drawing: Arnold Martin $50
Winner of 50/50 Drawing: Fabian Vereda $55 and donated to our foundation!
