OPENING

Lion President Kiley Grunstad opened the meeting at 12:30pm. Lion PP Jerry Hollingsworth, Songmaster, led our Lions in singing “You’re a Grand ole Flag!” Pledge of Allegiance was led by PDG Len Blottin. Prayer & Invocation was recited by Lion 1st VP Mercy Walters. Helen Keller Quote of the Week was inspirationally given by Lion PP George Hurst.

GUESTS

Lion Christian Willie introduced David Russell who is a longtime dentist and a good friend of Lion Christian.

MAIL BAG CORRESPONDENCE, COMMUNICATIONS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

Guide Dogs of the Desert will be having their Hero’s Brunch on Saturday December 7th.

La Mesa Lions 14th Annual Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday September 21st.

Our Lions Foundation Meeting will be this Wednesday September 18th 6pm at Jamacha Junction.

Board Meeting on Thursday September 19th 6pm at home of PDG Len Blottin.

Our next Visitation will be held at Singing Hills Lions Monday September 23rd 7pm at Coco’s 1025 Fletcher Parkway El Cajon.

VP REPORTS

3rd VP Van Willsey reported that we had a very successful Visitation to our North Park Lions on September 11th with the following Lions attending: Lion Paul Walters, Lion 1st VP Mercy Walters, Lion Mike Wasyliw, Lion PP Roger Stebleton and Lion PP Ray Hackworth. Sign up Lists for our Annual Lions Picnic on Saturday October 5th have been passed around this week. Don’t miss this fun & exciting event for all Lions, family, kids & grandkids.

1st VP Mercy Walters reported that today is the 10th Anniversary of the Cedar Fire. Our Lions Pancake Breakfast is on Sunday October 27 with Master Executive Chef Lion Dick Nasif running the cooking crew. Lion PP Dick Rogers has arranged publicity with the East County Herald—sell those tickets and let’s make this a big fundraiser! At the District Cabinet Meeting Lion 1st VP Mercy sold a lot of Pancake Tickets with a very effective technique of handing district officers two tickets each and asking for 10 bucks! Saturday September 29th is the Alpine Parade that will include a number of Lion District Governors along with Lion 1st VP Mercy Walters and Lion Paul Walters—fellow Lions from El Cajon Lions are encouraged to walk in the parade. Membership Committee reported that Chamber of Commerce Breakfast on Friday October 4th at 7am will feature our Lions Display Table to promote membership and our Lions Club.

HAPPY DOLLARS

Lion Bob Acker, Tail Twister, collected the following Happy Dollars & Happy Dollar Fines: Lion PP Mark Clifton and George Hurst gave $10 each for their secret greeting sign to build comraderie! Lion Christian Willie gave a Happy $5 for having an incredible weekend and a good 60 mile bike ride! Lion 1st VP Mercy Walters gave a Happy $5 for a Happy, Happy, Happy to be here! Lion PP George Hurst reminded everyone that he had a great 57th Wedding Anniversary that was well celebrated! Lion PP Don Anthony gave a Happy $10 for a good Chargers win and missing last week’s meeting! Lion PDG Len Blottin gave a Happy $20 for a nice 2 weeks in Maui! Lion Roy “Rocco” Collura gave a Happy $10 for the Chargers win & Aztecs not losing! Lion Treasurer Paul Tremblay gave a Happy $5 for a nice Chargers win! Lion PP Roger Stebleton gave a Happy $20 for new listing of his $2.4 mil beach house property! Lion Mike Wasyliw gave a happy $5 thanking our Lions Visitation Team’s for visit to North Park Lions on September 11th! Lion PP Hugh Cowan gave a Happy $25 for missing a few meetings and mentioned that Lion PP Gordon Bush has moved and living with his grandson—Call PP Gordon at anytime 619.995.6340, he’d be happy to hear from you! Lion President Kiley Grunstad gave a Happy $31 for his Chicago Bears 31 points win! Lion PP Gary Sims gave a Happy $4 for his wife Gail’s 7 Happy Days in Santa Maria & San Francisco after celebrating their 33rd Wedding Anniversary—and for a $200 win at Barona! Lion PP Hugh Cowan shared a Happy Joke of the Week! Lion Dick Nasif gave a Happy $1 for a …just because! And asked who gave my email address to every darn Lions Club in Southern California!

Attendance Drawing was won by Lion PP Gary Sims who put his winnings back into the drawing pot.

Good to see Lion PP Dr. Mark Krause at today’s meeting –he received a standing ovation as he walked in!

Lion President Kiley Grunstad is collecting any Lions Pins for his upcoming Western Pin Trading Club event..

Our next Lions Visitation will be to the Singing Hills Lions on September 23rd at 7pm Coco’s Restaurant 1025 Fletcher Parkway—to sign up contact Lion Mike Wasyliw, Visitations Chair.
