COMMUNICATIONS/ANNOUNCEMENTS:

.I just received a sad note from Dorothy Maranda’s son Stephen.  (Dorothy was the widow of PP Jack Maranda (1957-58): “It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you of my Moms passing. She continued her love of travel to the very end. Last month we were on a European river cruise and she was the picture of health, meeting new people and enjoying herself.

We had been home a week, and she started not feeling well, she was in the hospital and released 3 days later with hospice care to assist me.  She died peacefully and at home with me holding her hand. I’m thankful for the past 2 1/2 years I had with her.

She did not want a funeral, but one last cocktail party, and interment of her ashes next to Jack.

Please thank the Lions for their years of friendship and involvement with both of my parents.

Stephen”

.Once again Prez Chris presented PP Gary Sims with his 25 year tenure pin (he lost the 1st one!).

.Treas Paul read a lovely letter from Doris Huls, widow of PP Trent Huls (1965-66).  She sent along a check for $1,000 to our Foundation in PP Trents’ memory.  Doris was very pleased that we named of our Guide Dogs of the Desert after Trent.

.Also pancake breakfast tickets are available at meetings but if you weren’t at today’s meeting a book of 10 tickets will be sent to you with the newsletter.  You will be billed for them so please try to sell them.
