PROGRAM: Jens Laundrup, CISSP of Waverider Security speaking on “Cyber Threats”.

Jens has a Masters Degree, is retired Air Force and has 30 years in cyber security currently working with 3 hospitals and a credit union.

Currently there are many breaches going on and 70% of them took over a month to be discovered. “They” are going after small and medium businesses, and individuals (at home).

Most of the breaches can get through firewalls and anti-malware programs.

There are not enough professionals available to handle cyber security for businesses. The cost of these breaches is a billion dollars a year.

What to Do Now? Automatic Microsoft updates every month (patch) are a must. Take the time for this to keep our computer clean. Don’t mix work with social on your computers.

Seventeen million dollars is stolen monthly through business Point of Sale programs.

Back up your computer – a cloud-based program is best for this purpose. Use an advanced malware application – many are free. Businesses need to encrypt their hard drives.

The #l attack is via ‘phishing’. Don’t open ‘fishy’ emails or click on a suspicious link.

For more information and free links contact Jens at Jens@waveridersec.com, www.waveridersecurity.com or all Jens at 425/818-1200.

UPCOMING PROGRAM: March 11th – Monica Zech El Cajon Public Information Officer and El Cajon Planner Lorena Cordova. Topic “El Cajon City Climate Action Plan”.
