PROGRAM:

Carlos Gutierrez, The Aztec Warrior (Monty Montezuma)

Carlos was born and raised in Lakeside and graduated from El Capitan High School.

His dad was a police officer, and Carlos is self-employed in real estate.

Because the current President of SDSU is adamant about not having Monty Montezuma as the school’s mascot, a group of students, Alumni and supporters formed the Aztec Warrior Foundation (501c3) in 2002, and the Warrior was adopted in 2004, with Carlos holding the position during 2004-2006.

A donor has offered 3-$10,000 scholarships to anyone willing to be the Warrior to ensure someone acts in that position for at least the next 3 years.  In the meantime, it seems Carlos enjoys being the Warrior, but it does take a lot of time, attending all football and basketball games, among other events.
