June meeting and event schedule confirmed with key dates and times

Regular meetings set for June 1st, 8th, 11th (board meeting at 6pm), 15th (business meeting), and a potential dark day on 22nd pending decision

June 6th marked as Lion’s Learning Day at La Mesa Dale Elementary, engaging the community and youth

June 11th, we’re having a board meeting on June 11th as a Thursday at 6 pm at the Elks Club.

Special June 27th Installation at the Automobile Museum scheduled for 6 pm to leverage free parking after that time

July 24th Del Mar Day details shared: start time moved to 2 pm, price held at $27 per person, parking self-paid, and seating in shaded clubhouse terrace

Lions Club supported the printing of brochures, reaching approximately 2,000 attendees at Greenfield Elementary

Members coached young speakers who delivered memorized speeches, showcasing youth empowerment

Participation was praised as a key outreach method to strengthen community relations

Flag Day

The recent school flag program was a meaningful and well-attended event, featuring second-grade students who performed several songs during a 45-minute presentation. School principal Christine Spar offered heartfelt remarks, praising the long-standing efforts behind the program and recognizing the Lions for their continued support of students and the community. The event also honored Paul Walters, with the program dedicated to his memory and impact.

  • Approximately 838 flags were distributed to students after the program, along with educational pamphlets about the flag.
  • Colleen and Gary Robinson each participated with readings during the event.
  • The principal highlighted additional Lions contributions, including support for student eyeglasses and school resources.
  • The students were engaged throughout the program, making the event both memorable and impactful.

Those in attendance included Gary Sims, Colleen Owens, Chris Bramwell, Dinah Jones, Gary Robinson, Mike Rainey, and Susie Cline.

Jim Sing$5I didn’t have enough bicycles, so three months ago I ordered one from France.  They wouldn’t fly it because it has lithium batteries in it.  So they sent it by boat to Florida, and then they sent it by truck to a person here who could assemble it because it’s an electronic bicycle, has five different batteries on it, more complicated than all the instructions are in French.
