.Lion Dick says there are still quite a few slots open for S.A. bell ringing at Walmart on Los Coches.  Our dates are Fri 12/13 and Sat 12/14.  Please give of your time – it’s fun!

.PP Bob Moreau says it takes $5.000 to feed and provide toys for our 80 families and all of the monies we make in December will go toward that project.  Selling pies from Brothers Restaurant provides some of those funds and the following generously signed up for a pie at $100 per: Len Blottin, Gary Sims, Mike Raney, Cathy Bailes, Bruce Boorman, Phil Smith, Jeff Smith, Chris Bramwell ($500), Paul Walters, Yvonne Paris, Ron Black, Dolores Galkowski, Mark Clifton, Gary Robinson ($50).  $1750 collected for pies plus proceeds from 50/50 drawing, Attendance Drawing and Birthdays for a grand total of $1933.  Good Job Lions!!!

Author of “Two Who Survived”.

: Rose Schindler, Holocaust Survivor

Rose was born in Czech (now Russia) as Roysie Schwartz,  where their village had no electricity or plumbing.  Her father was a tailor and she wears the chain from his pocket watch as a necklace every day.

Hungary came into her village of 1500 (600 were Jewish) and within a year everything they had was taken away and children could no longer attend school.

All men 15 yo and older were taken during the week to work in shops in other areas. Rose and her siblings and friends were bullied by other children in town because they were Jewish.

On April 11, 1944 her entire family and others were taken away and held in tents at the train station until the cattle cars came to take them to Auschwitz, a trip which took 2 days.

Rose’s life has been amazing and interesting and you can find out the history behind her story in her book or at UTube under Rose and Max Schindler, San Diego.  Also explore TwoWhoSurvived.com to learn more.
