ANNOUNCEMENTS/GOOD OF THE ORDER

PP Yvonne reported that for our 75th Anniversary Dinner/Party those wishing to secure a hotel room at the Sycuan Resort (onsite) will receive a special rate of $164+ tax.  Guests have up until April 10th to reserve a room at the discounted rate. After 4/10, rooms will be released from the block and will be based on availability. VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORTS

1st Veep Rob Ransweiler

Treas Paul T reported on the virtual City of Hope Tribute to Lions held yesterday.  They have a new fundraising campaign underway and Treas Paul sent in our $2,000 check already.  Bad news is that Dr. Arthur Riggs just passed away.  He had donated over $300,000,000 to City of Hope but he is also the inventor of synthetic insulin, a major health breakthrough.

2nd Veep Carl Ruiz:  

PP Chris reported that 2 of our 3 SPOT machines are in Jamul and Mt. Empire school districts.  One operator (Rebecca) has been performing approx. 150 vision screenings each month.

PP RAY’S RAMBLINGS: A woman walked up to an old man sitting on his porch – he was very happy.  She inquired why he was in such good humor – he said he smokes, drinks, eats fatty food and does not exercise.  She asked him how old he is and he said ‘67’!

PROGRAM:

George shared some great stories from his past years as a Lion.  One involved Jim Arbaugh, another Ed Hoffman and yet another Trent Huls.  Good memories and thank you for sharing your remembrances with all of us.  George and Beverly have been married 65 years and they are the proud parents of 4 children.
