PROGRAM: December’s Opportunity Drawing Winner Dick Nasif

Dick was born in Boston, MA and his family moved to San Diego in 1948.  He attended La Mesa Jr. HS and Grossmont HS.  Joined the Army in 1961 and was shipped to Germany.  Upon his return he sold encyclopedias for one day then worked at Kozak’s.  Eventually sold cars then went to the phone company and joined the police reserves which led to him becoming an officer with the EC PD as a patrolman and then an investigator. Upon becoming a school safety officer, he came up with “Freddie” the talking police car as a teaching tool for the K-1st graders. He held different programs for the older kiddos which included a Bicycle Rodeo which promoted bicycle safety.  He then became a detective then transferred to the Traffic Division as a Commander.  Dick then moved on to the Crime Suppression Unit which led to his being promoted to the Chiefs office as his advocate.  He then became Chief of Detectives and eventually attended the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA.

Upon retiring in 1998 he relaxed for 2 years before opening his own private investigation business where he did some interesting cases both at the local and federal levels.
