GUEST SPEAKER MARK GRANT
Mark has been a Padres Announcer for 28 years and has loved every minute of it – he works for 6 months then he’s off for 6 months.
The current franchise owner isn’t afraid to spend money for quality players. Getting into the playoffs without Tatis can be credited to the cohesive team commitment for excellence.
Mark appreciates and respects the national game announcers, saying it’s a tough job.
Len brought up the Daniel Camarena game where Mark believed with his last breath that the Padres couldn’t win and his belief was so strong that he announced if the Pad’s won he would walk from Alpine to Petco Park. Camarena came through setting up the Pad’s for the win, and Mark’s wife accompanied him on the walk.
Mark’s 2nd favorite place to go is Chicago (he grew up a Cub fan) and his least favorite place to announce is Seattle which he described as a sleeper location.
Mark is all for an electronic strike-zone although Tom N differs and finally Mark really, really, really dislikes the pre-game show.
WINNER OF ATTENDANCE DRAWING: Jim Sing $30

QUIP OF THE WEEK: Wi-fi went down for five minutes, so I had to talk to my family. They seem like nice people.
