PROGRAM:
San Diego Downtown Lions President Douglas Wahl presented information on Camp Jack 2022 held July 3-8. There were 62 at-risk campers, mostly from East County, aged 9-12 years old. Camp Jack has been in existence since 1996. Two years ago the venue was changed to Whispering Winds in Julian. The Wed 7/6 “All Lions Day” was very successful and many San Diego/Imperial County Lions attended for the tour and luncheon.
Since this is a Lions camp, clubs are asked to nominate kids for the camp and/or sponsor a camper with costs hovering just over $600 per camper.
Doug and Mitch presented our club with a poster board that all the campers signed and has all clubs involved on it. Special thanks to PP Gary Robinson, Mike Carleton, PP Gary Sims, Ron Black and Paul Walters for volunteering to teach the campers how to fish with a record 27 fish caught this year.
We are invited to the Camp Jack fund raiser cake auction/dinner on August 13th at the Coronado Yacht Club. Please see PP Yvonne for more information.
