ANNOUNCEMENTS/GOOD OF THE ORDER:

.Sec. Paul W reported that our club’s Flag Day Program at Johnson Elementary School will be held on May 29th at 8 AM. Wear your club shirt and/or Lions vest.  Additionally, if you can help sort the flags next week after our meeting please stick around.

.Treas Paul T reported that Lions Day at City of Hope is Sunday, May 19th, from 11:30 to 1:30.

.Gunsmoke Chair Treas. Paul T reported on the successes of our casino event.  We had 242 attendees.  Casino Night Sponsors are very important to the bottom line.  Paul thanked everyone who worked up front and behind the scenes to make this event so successful.

The silent auction had 78 items and garnered $5800+. The 6 items in the live auction brought in $3800.  Paul presented gift cards to Julie & Donna from Hoban Management for all their wonderful help.  Net proceeds are approximately $12,810.

Paul asks that the committee meet after next week’s meeting to mull over the event.

.IPP Rob did the First Reading of the ballot for proposed officers for fiscal 2024-2025.  There will be two more readings before the final vote on May 13, 2024.   SEE ATTACHMENT

Keith thanked everyone for all the hard work putting on Gunsmoke, particularly Paul Tremblay, Tom Hoban, Coleen Owens, Donna and Julie.  Tom then presented bouquets to the 3 ladies.

PROGRAM: 

Ashley Blan – Crisis House

Crisis House is now in Santee of N. Cuyamaca.  They provide safe housing for women, youth, and families and provide homeless services.

There is Camp Hope devoted to kids subjected to domestic violence.  For women in domestic violence situations, they provide emergency hotel stays.  Families are provided transitional housing.  East County has the highest population for homelessness.

The circle of events begins with shelter, then assessment by the intake director, then on to a case manager, then with counselors for the support program and finally graduation to permanent housing.  Cash donations are needed and are gratefully accepted.
