PROGRAM:

Lisa Gary Board Member with Honor Flight San Diego organization

Honor Flight San Diego is part of the Honor Flight Network and is one of the approx. 140 hubs nationwide.  HFSD is a 501(c)(3) non-profit.  HFSD is completely staffed by volunteers.

The mission of HFSD is to escort Veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit their memorials and thank them for their service and sacrifice to the United States and its citizens.  It is a 3-day trip.

Top priority is given to the most senior Veterans, currently WW II and Korean War, and to Veterans who are terminally ill.  This year they are taking applications from Veterans from the Viet Nam War.  Flights out of San Diego come from Vets from San Diego and Imperial Counties.

Each Tour of Honor trip costs about $250,000.  On each Flight there are approx. 80-90 Veterans and EVERY Veteran has a Guardian to assist them.  Two flights per year are held, May & Oct.

If you have an interest in donating to the Honor Flight organization please contact Lisa Gary, at 619/889-78853 or EM to lisabretgary@gmail.com.  Website is www.honorflightsandiego.org
