HAPPY DOLLARS/FINES: TT ___Bob Moreau__________________________

I have my daughter, Sharon, here today.

She is the director of planning and development for the El Cajon Valley School District.

The El Cajon Valley School District got a multi-billion-dollar grant for building construction repairs, all those kinds of things.

And she’s looking for a citizen who must be on the review committee for this grant.

I think Dick Nasif has done it before.

The only requirement is that one be a senior citizen and that you live in the city of El Cajon.

If there’s anybody who might be interested in being on the committee, and who lives within the school district.

Within the school district of El Cajon Valley School District

It’s kind of an interesting thing to do.

If you have the time and that you’re interested in serving the community.

Gary Sims $20 I am giving $20 because for the first time in 30, oh sorry, second time in 36 years, I missed the pancake breakfast.

And I went to a concert in LA on Saturday night at the Forum called, a lady called Duolipa, my wife was there.

And she sold out the joint, and she played Saturday night, Sunday night, Monday, and Tuesday night.

They added three shows because she’s so good.

But anyway, I thought it was okay.

The next day, we woke up, we went to the Charger game, and who did I see, but our president, Ron Neville.

He came over to our crummy little crappy seats from his little preferred seats that had an open bar and everything and waved at us and shook our hands.

So we felt special, and when he came over, the game was tied 10 to 10. After he left, we lost.

Ron left us High and dry.

He should have bought an exempt badge.

Yvonne Paris $5

Mike Raney $10  it was a great Pancake breakfast.

I’m sorry I was late, but I made it.

And I’m so happy to see Ken here today.

Dolores Galkowski $10 I have a happy $10 to thank two people who were so helpful to me with a raffle yesterday , and that would be Susie Klein and Warren McKenna. They were great workers all morning

Ron Nevels  $5

Grant Thiem Jr. $10 I’m going to put in 10. Can I take 20 and take 10? Yeah, just a great pancake breakfast.

And I’m just wondering if you’re going to walk up to the president who didn’t attend yesterday.

Don Anthony  $20   I got a 5 for my birthday, and the other 15 is this club’s pancake breakfast.

Now you guys helped out yesterday with the pancake breakfast.

And all of you were fantastic, and I really appreciate all the help.

Warren McKenna $5. This is for the cooks in the back.

I brought my own turkey sausage, because I don’t eat pork, and they cooked it for me, so I appreciate the cooks in the back

Carl Ruiz  $5 This is for $5 for Leo’s doing a great job yesterday.

Coleen Owens $5 And I’m throwing in $5 because last week, I’m going to chat.

I thought I thought you guys had sold Ron Gavel.

So I told him I’m going to buy a new gavel.

I ordered

It arrived on Wednesday.

It has Ron Neville, Club president, 2025 to 2026. Label. And it’s a backup.

Grant Thiem III  $5

Good music.

Great pancake breakfast, and it was a pleasure getting to know your daughter, Chris (Tiffany).

Well, thank you.

She’s not available.

Paul Tremblay $5 I have a happy five since I forgot to say this during the report.

But at the pancake breakfast, a friend of mine that I’ve known from middle school came to the breakfast.

I was also the best man at her wedding.

Her husband was my best friend.

And also Dr. Mark Krauss was here, and Dr. David Keene, and David’s going to be the

president of the La Mesa Lions Club next year

PROGRAM:

San Diego County Sheriff Kelly Martinez

I’ve been with the sheriff’s office all 14 years.

I’ve been the sheriff for about three years now.

I’ve got three more years left of my term.

Sheriff’s Office Overview

Fact | The sheriff’s office patrols 4,200 square miles in San Diego County and has a budget of $1.4 billion.

Fact |The sheriff’s office, as you probably know, polices 4,200 square miles of unincorporated San Diego County.

We provide contracted law enforcement services to nine of the 18 cities in the region.

We have 18 Indian reservations in our jurisdiction.

California is a little unique.

The sheriff is responsible for policing on the Indian reservations.

And we have the most reservations anywhere in the country.

We also have seven jails that are managed.

as well as courthouse security throughout all the courthouses of the region, we have a lot of regional assets.

Astria, the helicopters, and our air fleet are all regional assets, as well as our FED or SWAT units; those are all regional.

and just several other responsibilities.

My budget this year was about $1.4 billion

Concern | The sheriff’s office faces $700 million in needs related to jail infrastructure and communication center replacement.

Jail Population and Funding Issues

Concern | The jail population has increased significantly due to Proposition 36, leading to funding challenges.

Fact | Spent $32 million in the last year to fund the increased jail population, which is underfunded.

Concern | The population in jails has more drug addiction and mental health issues, demanding more care.

Decision | Advocating for state funding to support the increased jail population due to Proposition 36.

Border Checkpoint Effectiveness

Fact | The San Diego border checkpoint was very effective in recovering drugs and money, with significant success in operations.

Concern | The drug cartel’s power remains strong, with changing methodologies and products affecting local enforcement.

Sheriff’s Role and Community Impact

Fact | The sheriff has more votes than any one of the five county supervisors, indicating significant influence.
