Lion President Mercy Walters opened the meeting at 12:30pm. Lion PP Jerry Hollingsworth, Songmaster, led our fellow Lions & guests in singing “You are my sunshine!” The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Lion Justin Stewart. Prayer & Invocation was recited by Lion Dan Garrett. Helen Keller Quote of the Week was inspirationally given by Lion Carter Short.
GUESTS
Lion IPP Kiley Grunstad introduced our 3 guests, visiting Lions from the La Mesa Lions: IPP Dick Millien, Lion Shirley Millien and President Doug Battey. IPP Dick Millien invited the ECVH Lions to their upcoming 8th Annual La Mesa Lions Tea Party Fundraiser on Saturday February 28, 2015 1-3pm @SD East County Association of Realtors 1150 Broadway El Cajon $25 per ticket RSVP to Misty Thompson 619.885.0561 LMLCTreasurer@gmail.com. Also, as the Zone Chair IPP Dick reported that the Zone Speakers Contest will be on Saturday March 7th 2pm at the Casa de Oro library—volunteers needed for tellers & ballot counters. Next Lions Zone meeting will be on Friday February 13th 2pm at the Marie Calendars Restaurant in La Mesa.

Lion PP Floyd Sorenson had been in the hospital past 3 days and will be going into Palliative & Hospice Care.
Lion PP Tony Forchette’s wife, Heidi Gould, funeral services will be held this Thursday February 5th 11am at St. Therese’s Church on Navajo & College Road in La Mesa.
Lion PP Bob Moreau was given honors with a “Silver Membership Growth Award” pin for his outstanding recruitment of new Lions during the month of October 2014.
El Cajon Citizen of the Year Luncheon will be held this Tuesday February 3rd at noon at the Ronald Reagan Community Center. Our own Lion PP Jerry Hollingsworth was nominated for this award for his outstanding Lionism and community accomplishments.
Lion Secretary Paul Walters reported the following calendar events: February 9th Lions Student Speaker Contest 6pm at the Reagan Community Center (please remember there will not be our regularly scheduled Lions noon luncheon meeting on this date). February 11th Lions Board Meeting 6pm at Coco’s Restaurant on Main St El Cajon—all fellow Lions are invited. February 16th we will be DARK to celebrate the Presidents Day Holiday.
EXEMPT BADGES
Congratulations to PP Ray Hackworth for winning the Exempt Badge in February with his $55 bid. Lion PDG Len Blottin won the second Exempt Badge with bid of $50. Lion PP Ray wanted the Exempt Badge to celebrate his 55th wedding anniversary to his dear wife Dorothy and Lion PDG Len wanted the badge for his upcoming vacation to Maui Hawaii getaway!

2nd VP Van Willsey reported that our Adopt a Street Community Cleanup will be on Saturday February 21st 7:30am meeting at Clifton Motors. Lion PDG Len Blottin reported a date change for our Lions Membership Orientation Meeting from March 18th to March 25th at Lion Justin Stewart’s Opus Bank 6pm (reason for change is that March 18th is our Lions Foundation Meeting).
1st VP Ray Ridlon reported that our first Gunsmoke Casino Night Planning Meeting was held on January 28th and minutes of the meeting will be distributed to the attendees.

Lion Sharie Hoops gave a Happy $20 for his two winnings in Super Bowl Pools! Lion PDG Len Blottin gave a Happy $10 for his 10 day Maui trip! Lion Secretary Paul Walters gave a Happy $5 for Lion PP Bob Moreau’s Membership Recruitment Award and another Happy $5 for IPP Dick Mellien and his La Mesa Lions Visitation Team! Lion Mike Wasyliw gave a Happy $5 for his grandson Parker’s 5th Birthday Party this Saturday—Grand parenting is Incredible & keeps you young at heart! Lion IPP Kiley Grunstad gave a Happy $20 for a nice Super Bowl Party with family & friends! Lion PP Ray Hackworth gave his Happy Joke of the Week with the $10 fine paid by Lion PP George Hurst!
SPEAKER
Lion 1st VP Ray Ridlon, Speakers Chair, introduced our featured speaker Brian Midkiff, Community Outreach Coordinator, from the Meals-on-Wheels Greater San Diego, Inc. Meals on Wheels, a non profit organization, has been in operation for the past 55 years as an organization that is almost 99 % volunteer driven. Fresh lunches and hot or cold frozen dinners are delivered Monday through Saturday 52 weeks per year. Eligibility requirement is 60 years of age and payment of $4.00 per meal (or $7.00 for both lunch & dinner). There are 4 offices and 2,000 volunteers who deliver the meals—with our own Lion Earl Irey who has been a very faithful Meals-on-Wheels volunteer for many many years!
