PP Gary Sims started off by announcing his recent $1600 win at Barona Casino.  For that, he gave $100 to the Foundation In memory of PP Tony Forchette

Many more members followed suit, donating amounts ranging from $20 to $100 for a total of $695 with Kiley and Yvonne putting in Pink Slips for amounts not disclosed.

PROGRAM:

Dan McAlister, San Diego County Treasurer-Tax Collector

Dan proudly reported that San Diego County is at the top of county collection rates for property taxes.  He says 73% of property owners pay their taxes online, including 32% of the total being paid by Impound Accounts.

During the pandemic, the department was able to assist property owners with extensions due to their inability to pay because of the pandemic’s consequences.

The investment pool for San Diego County is near $16B and will exceed that for the year.

Of note Bond proceeds and a host of about 200 agencies in the County (schools, sewer districts, etc.) goes to the Treasurer-Tax Collector’s office.

For the current tax season over 1,364,000 property tax bills were mailed out.
